Out Playin #1
I was pursuin' what I wanted and got caught in the act.
The woman said, "D'you see the signs, or are you blind as a bat?"
Blindness was not my problem. She was all I wanted.
Discretion's not my specialty, and now she thinks I've plotted!
With her searchlights shining’ bright, I was standin' naked.
If I'd have been of a different mind, I'd have been shaken.
But my vision was clear, so I did what was right.
I said, "'scuse me Miss, I'm still timing your yellow lights."
Standing there, next to scared, I complimented her do.
As if I'd mocked, she was shocked, she said, "How dare you!"
"Hey! Any gal with a cut like that pays attention to her style.
Easy now! I'm saying 'Hi.' Why don't we talk for a while?"
Soon our conversation went public when her friends did appear.
They caught a scent of longin' lurkin' in the atmosphere.
My desire stood trial against those unwanted agents.
But God and me was laughing at the constant test of patience.
"Pardon me," I said, "I was talking to your friend.
It's she I wanted to get to know and we're just gettin’ in."
"Well, she don't care to see a man with no money to his name.
What good are you? And what society is it you will choose to blame?"
"You know, you're right. I’ve no money to speak for me.
But with my eyes and by my side, I'll see who she'll choose to be.”
And with that they disappeared, and I was free to roam.
In the mornin' I rose to say, "Hi," again. This time from a different home.
