Through The Shock

Written By: Jonny Johnson

You're mean. You tie violence to your rage
You make warfare with your guns and your words
Sing me a song of fallen rods and lost doves
I want to hear an assembling of your chords

You pivot and you turn, you struggled to obey
The powers that promised a life of ease
Surrender don’t come easy and I’ve felt your pain
When there’s no one to speak to and no one to please

The ground’s been disrupted, the shock will soon pass
Your sudden plight is sure to reach the land
The breeze will guide you, the songs are broadcast
Soon you’ll find comfort where you stand

You felt its presence and you didn’t see
But a flicker shimmer across its face
How haunting it would be, the mystery you’d see
If you owned and you softened your gaze

From a rocky shore a boy did emerge
Landing from a place long gone
He pleads for a song of tender melodies
And it’s a simple bargain the two agreed upon
