Memories
Memories
Written By: Jonny Johnson
The waves drown my sorrows
As I kick the stone in the sea
The stars had shined a lofty blue
Above you and me
I'd never quite felt that way
As when you spoke, I feel the same
Somewhere we once were
Somehow you once knew
But, now, here I am
Stroking
All these memories
I get to keep
It was a game grand lined in the sand
Dice hanged, choices fanned
I shake away the passing days
Deflect an incoming haze
Improvise war cries
Slip into a protective guise
Oh where are you now
My token blue
Here I am
Shaking
With all these memories
I get to keep
Memories linger
Of good times and bad
If only you could see yourself
The way I had
They pickle in the jar
They rest at sea
It's hard to believe
Once, they were real
Of you and me
Now I stand beneath a lonely night
Flipping through faces to find your light
There was a time it was you I adored
I just can't feel you anymore
You were in my pocket
Away you flew
Now here I stand
Witness
To all these memories
Even I don't get to keep
